Diatomaceous Earth
Gaia Green Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a natural mineral amendment made from the fossilized remains of diatoms â microscopic algae with silica-rich shells. It serves a dual role in cannabis cultivation: as a soil conditioner that improves drainage and aeration, and as a physical pest control agent against soft-bodied insects.
When incorporated into growing media, DE creates tiny air pockets that prevent soil compaction, improve root oxygenation, and enhance drainage â particularly useful in heavier soil mixes prone to waterlogging. Applied as a top-dressing or dusted on soil surfaces and plant leaves, DE's microscopic sharp edges physically damage the exoskeletons of crawling insects like fungus gnat larvae, thrips, and spider mites, causing them to dehydrate.
It provides no NPK nutrition but adds bioavailable silicon as a secondary benefit, which can contribute to stronger cell walls and some pest resistance. Certified organic and safe for food crops. A multi-use tool for living soil and organic cannabis growers who want pest prevention without synthetic pesticides.
