Feather Meal
Gaia Green Feather Meal is a certified organic slow-release nitrogen fertilizer made from hydrolyzed poultry feathers. With an approximately 13-0-0 NPK ratio, feather meal is one of the highest-nitrogen organic amendments available, but unlike blood meal, it releases very slowly â breaking down over 3-4 months as soil microbes process the keratin protein structure.
This slow-release profile makes feather meal ideal for building nitrogen reserves into soil before planting, particularly in living soil mixes designed to feed plants throughout a full growing cycle. It ensures a sustained nitrogen supply during vegetative growth without the risk of rapid nitrogen burn that faster-release sources can cause.
Mix into soil before planting at recommended rates â it's rarely needed as a mid-grow top-dress because of its slow release. Works best as part of a balanced soil amendment blend alongside faster-acting nitrogen sources (blood meal) and other amendments in Gaia Green's lineup. An essential ingredient in long-term living soil nitrogen management.
