Ruby Rose Regular

Ruby Rose is a regular-seed hybrid from Second Generation Genetics (SGG), the Colorado breeding company run by JD Short, son of Blueberry breeder DJ Short, which works extensively with the Short family's Blue lines. The cross pairs a Black Rose mother with an F13 #5 father, F13 being DJ Short's floral, sativa-leaning selection from his Flo and Blueberry work. Black Rose contributes deep jewel-toned colouring and berry-forward terpenes, while F13 adds structure, vigour and an uplifting DJ Short-style high. The flowers show dark green and purple to pink hues with resin-rich clusters.

Consumers describe Ruby Rose as mostly energising. The onset is clear and creative, with improved focus and a talkative, uplifted mood that makes it a daytime or social strain. As the effect settles, a relaxed, dreamy calm follows without heavy sedation, which fits the 50/50 classification most retailers give it, although one database lists it as indica-dominant. Retail listings quote 18–22% THC with low CBD; the breeder has not published lab figures.

The aroma is sweet and tangy, with rose-like floral notes, citrus and berries, and the taste follows with grape, berry and floral sweetness over an earthy, lime-tinged finish. Linalool, terpinolene and humulene are the terpenes most often cited. Growers rate Ruby Rose as easy: medium height indoors and outdoors, moderate yields, and flowering of 8 to 9 weeks (56 to 63 days), with outdoor harvests in late September to early October. Cooler nights late in flower bring out the purple and pink colouring behind the name.
